Physical Waiver
Please review and sign the waiver before your guided trip. You can:
Email a signed copy to grittyinthebackcountry@gmail.com before your trip.
Sign in person on the day of your adventure.
A waiver will be provided at the start of the trip if needed. No participation without a signed waiver.
Weather and Refunds
For weather and extenuating circumstances: If you reach the trailhead and the guide calls the day off, you will be entitled to a full reschedule. If the trip begins (0-2 hours in), you will be charged for a full day hike, with a credit for the difference in price towards a rescheduled trip. After 2 hours into the trip, full payment is due.
Reservations and Cancellation Policies
Backcountry Grit Expeditions requires a full credit card payment to hold your reservation. If you choose to cancel within 12 hours before a scheduled trip, you will be charged the full price. If you cancel within 7-14 days of your trip, we would be happy to reschedule for another date. Cancelations made 2 weeks or more before your trip (3 weeks or more for multi-day trips of 5+ people (for summer expeditions) will receive a full refund. If your guide determines that weather conditions make your scheduled trip a no-go, we will work with you to reschedule, issue a credit, or refund your trip.
Weather Conditions in Winter
All trips will be canceled automatically if there is sub-zero temperature, blizzarding conditions, or low visibility.
Weather Conditions Other Seasons
Extra precautions for hikes, guides, and overnight trips will be considered if extreme conditions, such as wildfires, hail, tornados, or flooding, are forecasted, and trips will be rescheduled.
Risk Management
Backcountry Grit Expeditions’ L.L.C top priority is your safety. Our guide considers many factors, including client fitness and comfort, weather conditions, and route conditions when making decisions in the mountains. While we manage inherent hazards like inclement weather, avalanches, rock falls, and ice falls, these risks cannot be eliminated. Our guides’ formal training and extensive experience ensure sound decisions for an enjoyable and safe mountain experience. Backcountry Grit Expeditions L.L.C. reserves the right to turn around or change routes without refunds or credits under any conditions.
INDEMNIFICATION
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Backcountry Grit Expeditions L.L.C harmless from and against any claims, damages, costs, and expenses, including attorney’s fees, arising from or related to your use of the website.
General Release and Waiver of LIABILITY
In consideration of my use of the equipment/or my participation in activities provided by the company, I expressly agree and contract, on behalf of myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, agents, distributes, successors, guardians, next of kin, and assigns, as well as all other individuals participating in the expeditions that I am reserving for, that the company and its partners, insurers, employees, and associates shall not be liable for any damage arising from personal injuries ( including death) sustained by any participant, on, or about the premises, or as a result of the use of the equipment or facilities.
You agree to be solely responsible and agree to follow the trails and stay on the trails for your safety and well-being, and to ensure that all participants in the expeditions you have reserved for also comply with the terms of this waiver. You understand that the company is on a permit lease from the U.S. Forest Service and other lands and that the rules of the U.S . Forest Service will be followed and you agree to follow them during the activity. You agree to conduct yourself in a controlled and reasonable manner at all times and to follow the Leave No Trace principles. You understand that this activity and the use of the equipment involve risk of serious injury, including permanent disability and death in rare instances. By utilizing the guiding services and equipment you understand that you will be exposing yourselves to many inherent risks, including accidents, illness, injury, or even death and you assume all risks associated with your use of the U.S. Forrest Service Lands.
